(Rome – July 21, 2004) - rebelThink , an innovative company focused in digital effects, animation, R&D and commercial plug-in developent for 3ds max and Maya, today announced its upcoming release of Natural:shaders one.zero for discreet 3ds max 6.
At Siggraph 2004, rebelThink will present to a worldwide audience, various projects at different development stage. Interested facilities, users and media are invited to come by and see it at rebelThink booth# 2120, Los Angeles Convention Center.
 

rebelThink is proud to announce that Natural:shaders one.zero for 3ds max will be available in September 2004 and the pre-order submission will be possible from August 2004. As soon 3ds max version will be out, the mental ray edition will be developed for discreet 3ds max, Alias Maya and Softimage|XSI.

rebelThink will also announce Artistic:shaders for 3ds max and project|CITYSCAPE for Alias Maya, (a sneak preview will be presented at our booth).


NatShaders come straight from the development of internal software and techniques, created to be used in cinematographic productions. NatShaders will give the possibility to create many kinds of natural surfaces. The first release, (one.zero), will include the following shaders: NatIce (replicates frozen surfaces, from ice cube to iceberg); NatSnow, (snow covered surfaces); NatSand, (useful for beaches and deserts); NatMagma, (for the creation of magma either liquid or solid, also with the possibility to blend one state with the other), NatRock (reproducing some kinds of rock surfaces) and NatSea based on our "Simple Natural:sea O/S shader". (reproducing seascape, lakes, rivers, laghi, etc.).
 

NatShaders share the same interface, simple, effective, created by artists for artists through stages of R&D on movie and television productions. Other features are the presence of ready to use presets, the possibility to animate every parameter and the possibility to save and load custom sets made by the user.
 

Natshaders can emulate complex natural effects in little time, even at high resolutions, guaranteeing you high quality levels of output. General support is provided for the 3ds max scanline rendering engine, and will be soon released for mental ray. Right now, it has been tested with many third party rendering engine like: Cebas Finalrender stage-1, Chaos Group VRay and Splutterfish Brazil R/S. After Siggraph rebelThink will work on a Mental Ray porting of Natural:shaders to support other software platforms like Maya and Softimage|XSI. Natural:shaders one.zero is just the beginning of a new management system of complex surfaces through custom materials based on procedural approach.
 

project|CITYSCAPE is a plug-in for Maya, a procedural cities modeller with many innovative features that will have a sneak technology preview at Siggraph 2004

Artistic:shaders is a plug-in based on various techniques for toon rendering based on fast procedural toon/NPR shaders,  the integration of advanced NPR technologies and new tools and features aid to create a new approach in the 3D toon creation and the integration in toon production. It will be an innovative tool that will bring a new way to use NPR in 3d beyond the simple actual systems. The first release in now in early development stage.

Pricing and Availability


Natural:shader for 3ds max will be available from rebelThink and local dealers in September 2004. The mental ray release will be available in 2005. Pricing will be announced during Siggraph 2004 with promotional discount also.
